 This is a spin-off from my latest book made into a Caturday post on Instagram. It is based on a double spread, and while I was having fun with it I suddenly had the idea I could use the flow of the two pages put together to post on Instagram; they work individually, but the shuffle of Instagram's grid places them together from time to time.

Welcome to my illustration blog! I usually post here on Wednesday, sometimes adding extras to keep a work journal.
I illustrate under the pen-name of Binky McKee, McKee being my mother's maiden name. Binky was the name of every single cat my great-grandmother kept - allegedly about 40 of them during her 94 years of life. I have just finished illustrating a children's book, and am currently working on my own book before the second in the series of the children's book comes in. This time, take a peek into my ceramic design sketchbook. I actually made some of the mugs, but I kind of prefer the drawings! The plate designs are painted on paper plates, a most liberating process.

These watercolours are from my pattern sketchbook. I used coloured wax crayons to resist the washes of watercolour, also home-made rubber stamps dipped in bleach then printed on crêpe paper - the bleach takes out the paper dyes.
